RNDA Document Management and Collaboration Server
Basic principles
Many years of experience and several hundred installations deployed stand behind
RNDA - a powerful and scalable collaboration system - suitable for small and medium
enterprises as well as for companies operating world-wide.
We do not only provide a stable working environment that comes with minimal
installation and administration costs, but also offer different licensing models
that make Web-based groupware affordable for any enterprise.
Project and document management with RNDA
Although e-Mail and e-Commerce have now reached most companies, many still
afford to neglect one of the original advantages of the Internet and Web
computing - improving the cooperation of distributed co-workers. By using modern
Internet technology, group coordination and cooperation may be extremely
simplified - existing processes become more efficient.

Sharing and exchanging information nowadays is a crucial factor for almost any
business. Projects need to be managed with external partners or branches, a
bunch of documents is generated, circulated and needs to be managed and archived
- and most importantly: all this information must be accessible to authorized
personnel only.
RNDA in practice
You want to manage your projects 'online' - access important documents from
anywhere, at any time? That's what the Web was initially invented for - help
people to gain access to distributed information, world-wide.
The RNDA document management, shared workspace and event management system takes
advantage of this advanced infrastructure for distributed information
management. Based on standard Web technology, RNDA allows the cooperation of
groups of any size - across organizational boundaries and across different
system platforms.
RNDA is your tool of choice for efficient computer-supported collaboration, in
particular for geographically dispersed groups. RNDA is easy to use and requires
no software installation at the users' sites. No matter if your project partner
is sitting on the other side of the world or in the office right next to you -
simply use RNDA to access shared information and publish your results to all
partners affected with just one mouse click.
How does RNDA work?
The RNDA system is based on the notion of a shared workspace, a joint storage
facility that may contain all kinds of objects such as documents, tables,
graphics, spreadsheets or links to Web pages. Once a workspace has been set up,
all members may upload, edit or download documents to it.
The RNDA system will keep the members of a group informed about each other's
relevant activities in the shared workspace. Besides user and group management,
the RNDA system maintains the stored documents and applies access control to the
shared workspaces.
RNDA works across different lines of business
Firms doing business in different areas have different demands on such a system.
RNDA, however, works basically across different lines of business by taking into
account the different forms of cooperation and communication that are common to
specific domains. Have a look at our references to get an overview of the broad
range of companies from different sectors that use RNDA to improve their
teamwork.
The most important features of RNDA at a glance:
Authentication: people have to identify themselves by name and password before
they can access RNDA workspaces;
Version management: documents within a workspace may be put under version
control;
Mechanisms for locking documents: documents may be locked temporarily to deny
write access to other users;
Annotations and ratings: users may add notes to objects in a workspace and rate
the quality of objects;
Event notification: various options for getting informed about events in shared
workspaces, including direct email notification and daily reports;
Search facilities: users may specify queries to find objects within RNDA
workspaces or on the Web;
Email integration: users may send email messages to other RNDA users and may
distribute documents of a RNDA workspace via email;
And much more: of course, RNDA provides many other features not listed here in
detail - including role based access rights, personalized user interfaces and
support of many different document formats.
Requirements
Server: The RNDA server software may be installed on Windows 2003/2000/NT and
various UNIX dialects (e.g. SUN Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Linux).
Clients: No software installation is required on the client's
side. Any normal Web browser (Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer,
Netscape Navigator, etc.) provides access to the system. Advanced, optional
features (based on Java/JavaScript) require a recent version of one of the major
Web browsers. For smooth operation we suggest Mozilla Firefox as your favorite
browser.
Minimal administration efforts
Installation and maintenance of RNDA is particularly easy. User administration
is set up as self-organization by the users, i.e., users may invite (or exclude)
other users to (or from) their workspaces without having to ask a system
administrator.
End-user friendly:
The intuitive user interface and the usage of typical Internet application
patterns provides a system which is easy to learn and use. Several predefined
user profiles and features for individual customizations of the user interface
require only minimal efforts to get familiar with the system and increase the
users' satisfaction.
